7 in one blow!!
That's my favorite line from a Disney/Mickey Jack & the Beanstalk story. It expresses Mickey's excitement in catching 7 flies with one whack of a fly swatter. I caught 15 cats/kittens in 2 days!! They're being "fixed" and returned to their lives. I'm spoiling them with wet food while they hiss at me and hate me. I want to pet them and tell them how much I love them.
The biggest haul is the Ink family. So far I caught 2 black adults and 4 black kittens in 1 spot. At the pizza place I finally caught ANNABELLE!!!! and her one baby. We don't have room for her at the shelter, but I'm keeping her at the campground trailer until we do, and that's that. Her 3-month old baby is being tamed by an expert. Annabelle doesn't weigh but 5 lbs herself and I don't know how she survived giving birth. She will never have to do that again! No more crossing a very busy road where too many others have died.
I didn't catch any "repeats" in a trap this time. On one hand that's good, because it doesn't waste any time. On the other hand it isn't good, because it tells me how many more cats there are only a year later!!
Only one female cat 4 months or older has to avoid my traps. She will be found by an un-fixed male, who will travel 3 MILES just to find what he's looking for! Her babies will be born in April, and those infants will be giving birth by October.
It's endless and it sometimes feels hopeless. But I looked at the tortie today, who is still groggy from surgery, and know she will never give birth again. I see the black infants and know they will never ever give birth.
My own cats have been neglected for a few days, but it was for a good cause!
Once upon a time there was a wise man that used to go to the ocean to do his writing. He had a habit of walking along the shore.
One day he was walking along the shore. As he looked down the beach, he saw a human figure moving like a dancer. He smiled to himself to think of someone who would dance to the day. So he began to walk faster to catch up.
As he got closer, he saw that it was a young man and the young man wasn't dancing, but instead he was reaching down to the shore, picking up something and very gently throwing it into the ocean.
As he got closer he called out, "Good morning! What are you doing?"
The young man paused, looked up and replied, "Throwing starfish into the ocean."
"I guess I should have asked, why are you throwing starfish into the ocean?"
"The sun is up, and the tide is going out. If I don't throw them in, they'll die."
"But, young man, don't you realize that there are miles and miles of beach, and starfish all along it? You can't possibly make a difference!"
The young man listened politely. Then bent down, picked up another starfish and threw it into the sea, past the breaking waves and said, "It made a difference for that one."
